Deacon Mike Conzett

In his secular life, Deacon Mike Conzett is a licensed Professional Civil Engineer. He retired more than four years ago after a 30-year career at HDR, Inc. in Omaha where he was a vice president and specialized in the execution and management of large environmental planning and engineering projects, as well as hazardous, toxic, radioactive waste restoration projects for public and private sector clients.

He is a past president of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES). He served 15 years on the Nebraska Board of Engineers and Architects.

Deacon Conzett was ordained a permanent deacon by Archbishop George Lucas in October 2009. He currently serves at St. Margaret Mary Parish in Omaha. His ministry there includes sacramental preparation for engaged couples and parents having children baptized as well as assisting in the RCIA program. For the Archdiocese of Omaha, he serves as a member of the Human Sexuality Formation Committee, deacon liaison for the Center for Family Life Formation, and a Tribunal Sponsor for individuals seeking an annulment. He and his wife, Valerie, are members of the Institute for Priestly Formation Mission Advancement Council, and members of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. They are parents to three adult children, all married, and grandparents to two grandsons, both less than 1 year old.
